Annual Plus II Exams: CHSE Allows Wristwatch, No Smartwatch For Students

Bhubaneswar: With the annual Plus II examinations in Odisha just five days away, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on Saturday released a clarification stating that under no circumstances will a student wearing a smart watch be allowed to enter the examination hall.

“However, students wearing analogue watches will be allowed inside the examination hall,” CHSE Chairman Amarendra Kumar Patnaik told the media here.
Talking about the steps the Council has taken to curb malpractice, he said three-tier security arrangements have been made in all the examination centres.

“It has been decided that during the examination, a student can leave the examination hall without taking the question paper with him/her. In case a student goes to the toilet, he/she has to hand over the question paper to the invigilator. If a student spends more than two minutes in the toilet room, the invigilator will frisk the student the moment he/she comes out of the toilet,” Patnaik pointed out.

Asked about the measures the council has taken to ensure that question papers are not leaked, he said on the day of the examination, the question papers from the hubs to the examination centres will arrive by 9.30 am amid tight security.

Question papers will be kept in 202 hubs with CCTV surveillance and under the close watch of the armed police.

Besides, CCTV cameras will be installed at all the examination centres. “Out of a total 1,091 centres, CCTV cameras have already been installed at 937 centres.
A total of 3,69,000 students of Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational Education will write the examination, which will conclude on March 30.
