Bhubaneswar: Taking note of question papers leak along with reports of rampant malpractices at some centres during the ongoing annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations in Odisha, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) is leaving no stone unturned to ensure incident-free annual Plus II examinations, beginning March 7.

As informed by the CHSE chairperson Amarendra Kumar Patnaik, all possible measures like tight security at all examination centres, hubs and during despatch of question papers from the hubs to the examination centres and ban on the use of mobile phones by any staff engaged in examination duty and smartwatches, camera pen and mobile phones by students have been put in place to check question papers leak.

He also said that CCTV cameras have been installed in 936 of 1,091 examination centres. ”It has been decided that the centres where the CCTV cameras cannot be installed, will be declared as sensitive and accordingly, more flying squads would be sent to those places,” he added.

Patnaik further said that the Council, for the first time, has issued its two control room numbers (0674-2303803/2300099 for the people with a request to inform the Council immediately if any irregularities at the examination centre in their locality comes to their notice. “Besides, the parents and guardians can also inform the Council about any problem at the centre where their wards are appearing for the examination,” he pointed out.

He said the Council from this year has made it mandatory for the students to use black ball-point pen. “Since the answer sheets are scanned, the scanned copies will be more legible if the answer scripts are written in the black ball-point pen. We have asked all centre superintendents to put up posters, notice and signage on the wall inside and outside of the examination halls in this regard,” he said.

A total of 3,69,537 students of 1556 junior colleges will appear for the annual Plus II examinations in 1091 centres across Odisha this year.

Of the total number of students, 2,35,183 students are from the Arts, 99,018 from Science, 27,278 from Commerce and 8058 students from Vocational Education streams.
