Another 10 Lakh Farmers To Be Included In KALIA Scheme

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposal of the state government to include another 10 lakh farmers under its newly launched KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme.

“The additional 10 lakh beneficiaries comprising small and marginal farmers, sharecroppers and landless farmers will be included in the scheme,” chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi told mediapersons here after the meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here in the evening.

He further said that the cabinet also approved another proposal on the rescheduling of the date for providing money to the KALIA beneficiaries. “It was earlier decided that the money would be credited to the bank account of the beneficiaries on the Akshaya Trutiya and Nuakhai festival. This decision has been changed. Henceforth, the money for the Kharif crop would be credited to the bank account of the beneficiaries after April 1 while for the Rabi crop, the money will be credited after September 1,” he added.
