Bhubaneswar: Odisha-cadre IAS officer Ashish Thakare, who is currently serving as Secretary of the Board of Revenue, is set to proceed on central deputation.
He has been appointed as Director in D/o Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Delhi, for a period of five years.
“The Competent Authority has approved the appointment of Ashish Thakare, IAS (OD: 2011) as Director in the D/o Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Delhi, under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier,” said the June 3 notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training
The Odisha Chief Secretary has been asked to relieve him of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment.
In February last year, Thakare was transferred and posted as Balasore collector, barely a month after being shifted from Keonjhar to Mayurbhanj, after the BJP raised objection to his continuation as Keonjhar collector ahead of the 2024 twin polls. Later in August that year, he was posted as the secretary of the Board of Revenue as the new BJP government in the state effected a major bureaucratic reshuffle, appointing new collectors for 20 of the 30 districts.
Interestingly, his appointment at the Centre comes six days after another IAS officer of Odisha cadre, R Vineel Krishna, was asked to join as Joint Secretary of Sports Department under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
In April, senior IAS officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal, who was serving as additional chief secretary to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, was moved to the Centre. The 1993-batch officer will take charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs upon the superannuation of the current Secretary, Umang Narula, on June 30.
