Poonch: A Pakistani national was taken into custody by security forces in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday after he crossed the Line of Control (LoC).
This was the third such apprehension in Poonch district this month.
Indian Army troops apprehended the 31-year-old man after he crossed the LoC in the Balakote sector of Poonch, Hindustan Times reported.
The intruder has been identified as Rayees Khan, a resident of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). He was taken into custody shortly after entering the Indian side of the LoC, PTI reported.
No incriminating material was recovered from him during the arrest, officials said. Khan is now being questioned to determine the purpose of his cross-border movement and whether he had any intended contacts or objectives on the Indian side.
This is the third case of an intruder being apprehended in Poonch this month.
Mohammad Sajad (26), also from PoJK was arrested on Friday in the Gulpur area of the Krishna Ghati sector. On June 9, Javid Ali (14) was detained after crossing into the Indian side. He was handed over to Pakistan a week later.
Meanwhile, security agencies launched a search operation after a suspected Pakistani drone briefly entered Indian territory in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
The drone was seen hovering near Nundpur village in the early hours of the day, officials said.
Personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF), Army and police conducted an extensive search of the area after the sighting to ensure there had been no airdropping of weapons or narcotics from across the border.
Nothing was recovered in the search operation, officials said.
