Another Teacher Arrested For Fake Certificate In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Two days after the arrest of a woman teacher for allegedly submitting fake certificate for appointment in Odisha’s Balangir district, another lady teacher was arrested on similar charge in Ganjam district on Saturday.

As per reports, Latika Barad, serving as a teacher in Podingi Shyamalai High School under Hinjili block of Ganjam district was arrested after a complaint was lodged against her alleging that she had produced fake certificates during selection process of teachers.

Following detection of an organised fake certificate racket in different places of the state 6 months back, the authorities at district level have been carrying out thorough scrutiny of the certificates submitted by teachers and others.

During such verification, the certificates submitted by Latika were found to be fake. Following this, the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Hinjili filed a complaint with the police. After the arrest, the teacher was produced in a local court.

In Balangir, the District Education Officer (DEO) had lodged complaint against 4 teachers with the police for submission of fake certificates. The police had arrested Mrinmayee Panda, who was working as a Hindi teacher at a high school in Puintala block of the district for the last 10 years, on Thursday.

But the police failed to arrest the three other teachers as they were absconding from their places of posting.
