Arabinda Dhali To Move Court Against Disqualification As Odisha MLA

Bhubaneswar: Terming his disqualification as Odisha MLA as unjust and partisan, senior leader Arabinda Dhali said he will take legal steps to challenge the order of the Assembly Speaker.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a BJP function in Bhubaneswar, Dhali said that he will soon move the High Court against his disqualification as a member of the Odisha Assembly.

Dhali, who was a legislator from Jaydev Assembly constituency, was disqualified as an MLA three days ago after quit the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the twin elections in the state.

He has been nominated as BJP candidate from Jaydev Assembly seat for the upcoming elections.

Stating that his membership of the Assembly has been cancelled with an ulterior motive, he said the action has been taken in a partisan manner.

Only those who have left BJD and joined BJP have been disqualified as MLAs, but the same rule has not been applied to others, claimed Dhali.
