Odisha Teacher Suspended For Taking Part In Election Rally

Boudh: A teacher of a government school has been suspended for allegedly participating in an election rally and procession organised by a political party in Odisha’s Boudh district.

As per reports, the Collector and district election officer of Boudh has placed assistant teacher Sanghamitra Mallick of government Nodal High School at Dahya under suspension as disciplinary action.

Her suspension comes into force with immediate effect. The action was taken for violating the model code of conduct laid down by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.

According to the ECI order of March 15, 2024, and Odisha Government Servant’s Conduct Rules, 1959, no government servant shall be a member of or be otherwise associated with any political or communal party or any organisation which takes part in politics or communal activities, nor shall he/she take part or subscribe in aid of assist in any other manner, any political or communal movement or activity.

As per reports, Sanghamitra Mallick had participated in a political rally taken out from Palaspat to Ambagaon in Kantamal Assembly constituency in Boudh district two days ago in violation of guidelines set by the ECI for the ensuing General Elections.
