Mumbai: Buzz around the return of Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ has grown stronger after a leaked image from the shoot, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh apparently as new additions to the judging panel, went viral.
Social media users were quick to speculate that the episode could feature Alia and Sharvari promoting their upcoming spy thriller ‘Alpha’ together.
However, some users questioned the authenticity of the viral image, claiming it may have been created using AI.
Apart from the two ‘Alpha’ actresses, fans also noticed small details in the picture, including a nimbu-mirchi, commonly believed to protect against the evil eye, along with handcuffs attached to the show’s logo.
First launched on YouTube in 2024, ‘India’s Got Latent’ was removed from the platform after it got embroiled in legal trouble.
A controversy erupted last year when podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, who appeared as a guest judge on the show, asked a contestant an explicit and controversial question involving their parents.
“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?” Ranveer had asked.
The remark triggered widespread outrage across the country and sparked intense backlash on social media.
Following the controversy, a police complaint was filed against Ranveer over allegations of promoting obscenity and using offensive language.
The complaint was submitted to the Mumbai Police Commissioner as well as the National Commission for Women.
An FIR was then registered against Ranveer, Apoorva Makhija and Samay Raina. Samay eventually took down all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, ‘Alpha’ is the seventh instalment of YRF Spy Universe. Directed Shiv Rawail, the female led spy-thriller revolves around two women spies navigating a high-risk mission packed with action and suspense.
Besides Alia and Sharvari, Alpha also features Bobby Deol in an important role.
Reports have suggested a cameo by Hrithik Roshan in the film, although there has been no confirmation from the ‘Alpha’ team.
