Keonjhar: In a daring daylight heist, a gang of robbers decamped with Rs 10 lakh in cash and a substantial quantity of gold ornaments from Odisha Grameen Bank at Joda town in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Thursday.
According to sources, the gang of five barged into the bank premises after it was opened at around 10 am and took out firearms, taking nearly staff members and customers by shock and surprise. Three among them were holding guns and the remaining two carried sharp weapons. They made away with cash and gold ornaments by threatening the staff.
The robbers also took away hard disk of the CCTV camera at the bank.
On being informed, Joda police reached the spot and started an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby areas are being examined to identify the culprits. Four teams have been formed to trace them and blockades have been erected at entry and exit points. “Efforts are on to gather all possible leads to capture the culprits,” Joda police station in-charge, Ravi Das, told mediapersons.
