Art, sports teachers to gherao assembly on Sept 12

Bhubaneswar: Scores of part-time instructors (visual arts, performing arts and physical education) working in government-run upper primary schools will stage a mass demonstration before the state assembly on September 12, seeking immediate fulfillment of their four-point charter of demands.
At a meeting here on Wednesday, convener of Odisha Kala O Krida Sikshak Mahasangha Gyanaranjan Mohanty said, “The state government had assured to fulfil our demands, which include permanent recruitment and increase in remuneration. But none of the demands have been fulfilled despite repeated appeals. It has become clear that the government is neglecting the arts and sports teachers.”
Therefore, the Mahasangha decided to hold a mass protest before the assembly to put pressure on the government to heed to its longstanding demands, he added.
