Arvind Kejriwal Walks Out Of Tihar Jail: ‘My Courage Has Increased 100 Times’

New Delhi: Hours after the Supreme Court granted him bail in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) corruption case related to the Delhi excise policy, Arvind Kejriwal walked out of Tihar jail on Friday evening.

Addressing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers and supporters, Kejriwal said that his courage and strength have increased 100 times, and his morale is higher than ever.

“Today I want to say that I have come out of jail and my courage has increased 100 times… The walls of their jail cannot weaken the courage of Kejriwal… I will pray to God to continue showing me the right path and I will continue fighting against all the power who are trying to weaken the country and divide the country,” Kejriwal said to raucous cheers and applause from party workers.

“I have faced many difficulties in my life but God has supported me at every step. This time too God supported me because I was honest,” Kejriwal told supporters, who went wild and burst crackers, distributed sweets among themselves to celebrate the release of their leader.

It was on the night of March 21 that Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money-laundering case linked to the now-scrapped controversial liquor policy.

The Delhi chief minister was granted interim bail by Supreme Court on May 10 till June 1 to campaign for Lok Sabha elections. He returned to Tihar jail after surrendering on June 2.

CBI arrested Kejriwal on June 26 while he was in ED custody.

Though the Supreme Court granted him interim bail in the ED case on July 12, Kejriwal had to remain in prison in the CBI case.
