Kendrapada: Eighteen persons, including Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA), Anganwadi workers, sanitary staff (sweeper) and some volunteers, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in the district.
Kendrapara Collector Samarth Verma on Sunday informed that these six staff were engaged at the TMCs at Marsaghai High School and Penthapal cyclone centre.
“Though they were asymptomatic, their swab samples were collected because of their exposure to corona patients. These two places – two wards with 300 households in Marsaghai and Dadhi Sahi in Penthapal with 80 households – have been declared as containment zones. Active surveillance in these areas have been completed,” he said.
The Collector further said that the remaining 12 patients, who had recently returned from Karnataka, West Bengal and Gujarat, along with these six have been shifted to the COVID hospital in Kendrapada.
With these fresh cases, Kendrapada’s COVID-19 tally has gone up to 89. As many as 40 patients have recovered from the infection so far in the district.
