Mumbai: Comedian Samay Raina has donated ₹10 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support flood-affected communities in the state, earning praise from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
However, Sarma’s appreciation also prompted several netizens to bring up the FIR filed against Raina, with users urging the Chief Minister to withdraw the case against the comedian.
The Assam Chief Minister’s Office shared a screenshot of Samay’s bank transaction on X confirming the contribution.
The official handle wrote, “HCM Dr @himantabiswa acknowledges the contribution of 10 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund by Shri Samay Raina.”
Sarma also acknowledged the donation on his personal X account, writing, “Thank you for contributing to our relief efforts during this difficult time in Assam, Samay!”
Following the Chief Minister’s post, several users took to the comments section to ask him to withdraw the FIR against Raina.
One user wrote, “Please withdraw Samay bhai’s case, sir.”
Another commented, “Please withdraw FIR.”

In 2025, Sarma had criticised content from Raina’s show India’s Got Latent amid the controversy surrounding the programme.
Following the row, the Assam Police registered an FIR against Raina, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia and others over allegations of obscene and vulgar content featured on the show.
