[Watch] Attack On Congress Leader: Tara Prasad Demands Resignation Of Odisha CM & DGP

Bhubaneswar: A day after a youth Congress leader was brutally assaulted by BJD workers in full public view, Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and DGP Abhay.

He alleged that the DGP had no control over his forces, which remained a mute spectator to the assault during the launch of BKSY Smart Health card by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Kuchinda on Tuesday.

“The DGP has failed to maintain law and order in the state, which is second in the country in crimes against women. The CM is also silent. Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra should be immediately dismissed and arrested for his alleged links with the main accused in the Mamita Meher murder case. The CM should also resign on moral grounds,” the Congress MLA told a presser.

Naveen has failed the electorate, which has been electing him as MP and MLA since 2000, he said.

“While the state is reporting six cases of rape every day, only two culprits are being punished every year,” he said, expressing concern over the state of affairs in Odisha.

The senior Congress leader also questioned the ‘clean image’ of Naveen. “He had won praises for dismissing seven ministers, but it was all a facade. The media should expose his reality,” he said.

Journalists are not allowed into the secretariate, complete dictatorship is prevailing in the state and media is being muzzled, he added.

He further alleged that BJD took to the streets over fuel price hike after Dibya Shankar issue escalated. “BJP and BJD are two sides of the same coin, they are doing drama in front of the public,” he said.
