[Watch] Let Children Burst Firecrackers On Diwali, Says Sadhguru

New Delhi: It turns out that spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is all for children bursting crackers during Diwali and against the ban on them.

“Concern about air pollution is not a reason to prevent kids from experiencing the joy of firecrackers,” he said.

Talking about people, who are in support of the firecracker ban in the country, Sadhguru added: “As your sacrifice for them, walk to your office for 3 days. Let them have the fun of bursting crackers.”

In a video posted on Twitter, Sadhguru said: “I have not lit a cracker in quite a few years. But when I was a child, how much it meant… from the month of September, we’ll be dreaming of crackers and after Diwali is over, the next one-two months, we will save the crackers and keep on doing them every day.”

Notably, the Supreme Court has set aside a blanket ban on firecrackers, imposed by the Calcutta High Court in West Bengal. Certified green crackers can be sold and burst in areas where air quality is “good” or “moderate”, the bench ruled.

The order was passed by a vacation bench of the Supreme Court. The bench was hearing two petitions challenging the Calcutta HC’s blanket ban on firecrackers, including green crackers. The petitions were filed by firecracker dealers.
