Mumbai: Hours after confirming his separation from Isha Rikhi, Badshah turned his attention to music with the release of ‘Chimna’, his first Marathi hip-hop track.
The song marks a new chapter in his musical journey, blending his signature hip-hop sound with the earthy beats and folk influences of Maharashtra.
Talking about his Marathi debut, the rapper said, “India’s regional music is a goldmine and I want to celebrate every corner of it. ‘Chimna’ is my love letter to Maharashtra’s rich creative canvas. I am incredibly grateful for how this project turned out, and this one’s dedicated to all my day one Maharashtrian fans!”
‘Chimna’ features playback singer Divya Kumar and Marathi folk artist Nagesh Morwekar. Shot in Kolhapur, the music video offers a vibrant glimpse into Maharashtra’s culture and everyday life.
It features colourful wedding processions, workers going about their daily routines and mud wrestlers training at a traditional akhada. Marathi actor Neha Khan also makes an appearance in the video.
Badshah and Rikhi announced their separation on Monday night, sharing identical statements on their respective Instagram Stories.
In their statement, they said, “I and Isha Rikhi have mutually decided to part ways and move forward on our separate paths. This decision has been made with mutual respect, and we request everyone to kindly respect our privacy during this time”.
The couple also requested that their decision not be subjected to further speculation. They added, “This will be our only statement on the matter. We sincerely request that there be no further speculation or assumptions regarding our relationship”.
Badshah and Isha got married in an intimate ceremony in March 2026 after dating for nearly four years. Isha publicly confirmed their marriage during an Instagram Ask Me Anything session in June.
Rumours of trouble in their marriage began circulating in July after Isha shared a cryptic post about storms and the lessons they bring.
She later posted about choosing courage over fear, while her mother shared a message about karma around the same time. These posts fuelled further speculation about the couple’s relationship.
The separation marks the end of Badshah’s second marriage. He was previously married to Jasmine Masih, with whom he shares daughter Jessemy Grace Masih Singh, born in January 2017. They divorced in 2020.
