The right-handed batter was the second-highest run scorer of the tournament with 243 runs from five innings. He had an average of 48.60 with two fifties to his credit. Wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan was also added under Grade C after not being considered last year.
According to media reports, both Iyer and Kishan missed out on their contracts for reportedly skipping domestic cricket. But, the reason was not specified by the BCCI publicly.
Varun Chakravarthy managed to earn his maiden contract under Grade C. The wrist-spinner was the joint second-highest wicket-taker of the ICC Champions Trophy. He had nine wickets to his name from three innings.
All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was also added for the first time following his phenomenal show in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Opener Abhishek Sharma and fast bowlers Akash Deep and Harshit Rana also managed to get their maiden contracts.
Jitesh Sharma, Shardul Thakur, KS Bharat and Avesh Khan failed to get retained under Grade C. Veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin was also released from Grade A.
