Bengal Man Run Over As Wife Shifts Gear In Balasore
Balasore/Dhenkanal/Cuttack: Two people were and four others injured in three separate accidents in Odisha in the past 24 hours.
In the first accident, a man from Bengal was run over by his own car near Kuladiha sanctuary in Balasore on Saturday night. The deceased, Jay Banerjee, was a resident of Padmashreepalli area of Bengal. Sources said Jay and his wife had come to Odisha on a tour.
The accident took place when Jay was returning from Russia Prakruthi Nivas. He had parked his car along the road near the Kuladiha sanctuary and, with the engine still running, he stood in front of his car was was checking his cellphone’s network when his wife accidentally moved the car’s gear, making the car run over Jay. He died on the spot.
Jay’s wife, too, suffered injuries as the car overturned on the roadside. On being informed, forest officials rushed to spot and rescued her and sent her to a nearby hospital. Investigations are on.
In another accident, a youth was killed being hit by a speeding vehicle at Korian bypass in Dhenkanal on Sunday. Sources said residents found Bharat Behera of Korian village lying in a pool of blood and informed the police who reached the spot and took Bharat to a nearby hospital. But, doctors declared him brought dead.
In the third accident, four persons were critically injured after their car skidded of NH-16 at Rajakana Chhak under Tangi police limits of Cuttack on Sunday. The identity of the four was yet to be ascertained. The accident took place when they were headed towards Chandikhol. Some residents rescued the four and sent them to a nearby hospital. The police arrived later and has begun investigations.
