Berhampur Man’s Death: Collector Orders For All Ambulances To Carry Suspected COVID-19 Patients

Chhatrapur: Hours after a critically-ill man died in Berhampur after allegedly being denied ambulance service, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange on Monday said all 108/104 ambulances will be used for shifting of COVID-19 suspected cases to the appropriate health facility during this emergency situation.

“Concern cluster leaders are instructed to receive the required PPEs, from the central store and ensure availability of the same in every 108/104 ambulances for emergency use,” the official order said.

The staff of a 108 ambulance allegedly refused to carry the diabetic patient of Prahallad Nagar in Berhampur to the hospital this morning suspecting him of suffering from COVID-19.

He died on the verandah of the house as 108 ambulance driver insisted on waiting for another ambulance (104) as per the COVID-19 protocol despite repeated requests, his son told the media.
