Bhadrak: In a major twist in the mysterious murder case of a woman in Bhadrak district, SP Batula Gangadhar on Monday informed that the daughter of the deceased person was raped by the accused.
“The biological samples collected from the room and bedroom where the incident took place on Sunday night, hints that the daughter of the deceased woman was sexually assaulted. However, the samples have been sent to the forensic laboratory for a thorough examination,” the SP said.
He added that police suspect that the accused youth had stoned the woman to death during her attempt to save her daughter from his sexual assault.
The incident took place at Talachitha village under Dhamnagar police limits in the district late last night.
The deceased was identified as Bhaktilata Beuria, wife of Rabi Beuria.
The youth, identified as Gopinath Mohanty of the same village, knocked at the door of Rabi’s house. When his wife opened the door, the accused attacked her with a stone. She died on the spot after receiving grievous injuries on her head, hands and other parts of the body.
Hearing her screams, Bhaktilata’s daughter Lijarani rushed to the spot to save her mother but she also became a victim of the attack.
“After thrashing me severely, the youth tied my hands and legs and fled the spot immediately. He had telephoned us from my father’s mobile number before entering our house. My father was not present in the house when the incident took place. He has not returned till now,” Lijarani had told police this morning
