Bhubaneswar MP Faces BJD Protest Over LPG Price Hike Again
Bhubaneswar: For second in the last three days, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi faced BJD protest against LPG price hike in the city on Saturday.
While the MP was taking out a rally with BJP activists as part of the party’s ‘Jan Sampark Yatra’ in Khanduala slum in Nayapalli, some BJD workers blocked the road to stage demonstration against the rising prices of the cooking gas. The ruling party demonstrators resorted to mock cooking with firewood as a mark of protest and raised slogans against the Central government.
In her reaction to the BJD demonstration, Aparajita said she welcomed all types of democratic protests and support. “I don’t think what they (BJD workers) were doing is a protest. I welcome all democratic protests, not hurling stones and eggs. I appeal to all all irrespective of party affiliations to unitedly work for the development of Bhubaneswar,” the national spokesperson of BJP said.
Later, she moved around the slum area and interacted with the people to know their problems and grievances.
It may be noted that Sarangi was forced to remain confined in a house at Acharya Vihar in the city for over three hours as youth activists of the ruling BJD laid siege to the place after creating ruckus and pelting eggs at her rally on Thursday night.
