Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital witnessed a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours with 46 persons testing positive for the virus.
With these fresh cases, the COVID-19 tally in the city rose to 525. The virus claimed one more life on Wednesday, taking the toll to seven.

Among the new cases, 24 are local contacts while anothe
r 22 have been detected among those in quarantine. The local cases include the four employees of RTO-I and as many, undergoing treatment at private hospitals in the city. Three employees of a private hospital and two of a government hospital have also tested positive for the virus.

Among the 22 quarantine cases, 18 have been infected by previous patients.
Meanwhile, 18 more COVID-19 patients have been cured of the infection. With 7 deaths and 295 recoveries, Bhubaneswar now has 222 active cases.
