Birthday Wishes Pour In For Naseeruddin Shah As He Turns 70

Mumbai: Theatre and Bollywood veteran Naseeruddin Shah is celebrating his 70th birthday today. The Internet is flooded with birthday wishes for the legendary actor.

Shah made his debut with a small role in the Rajendra Kumar and Saira Banu 1967 film ‘Aman’. Long associated with parallel cinema in movies like ‘Paar’ and ‘Aakrosh’, he established himself in commercial cinema with powerhouse performances in ‘Masoom’, ‘Karma’, ‘Tridev’ and many others.

Anil Kapoor, who has worked with the veteran star in ‘Woh Saath Din’ in 1983, posted a picture of himself with Shah from the movie set sharing what a great influence Shah has had on him.

Naseeruddin Shah played the role of Mirza Ghalib which set him aside from the crowd and spoke of his talent and god gift. Shah has portrayed every role, from making people laugh in ‘Chamatkar’ alongside Shahrukh Khan to giving neck to neck competition to Aamir Khan in ‘Sarfarosh’.

Shah’s versatility has kept him alive in Indian cinema. Praising the actor, one twitter user wrote,” Whenever I think of Ghalib, he is the first who comes on my mind.”

His role as a lost, drunk ex-cricketer and coach in ‘Irfan’, or that of a painter who leaves his family to pursue his love for painting in ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, he has proved he can be the life of a movie by bringing alive his character however small. Red Chillies Entertainment couldn’t have said any better.

We wish the star great health and love on his birthday.
