Bizarre! Woman Strangles Husband To Death For Complaining About Ants In Rice In Odisha

Rourkela: Police have detained a woman in Odisha’s Sundargarh district for allegedly strangling her husband to death after a heated argument over ants in the rice while having dinner.

The deceased has been identified as Hemanta Bagh (35) of Falsamunda village in Sambalpur. He was working as a driver and lived with his wife Sarita (31), daughter Hemalata (7), and son Soumya (4) at Sriram Nagar in Sundargarh district.

According to sources, the couple had a heated argument after Hemanta spotted some ants in the rice and sought an explanation from Sarita on Wednesday. In a fit of rage, she strangled her husband with a scarf.

Later, she called an ambulance and took Hemanta to Sundargarh district headquarters hospital (DHH), where a doctor declared him dead.

Thereafter, she informed her in-laws, who arrived on Thursday.

The cops detained Sarita based on a complaint lodged by her father-in-law Sashi Bhusan at Town police station.

“We interrogated the woman and she has confessed to her crime,” TOI reported Town police station IIC S Parida as saying.
