BJD Kicks Off Membership Drive In Odisha, Asks New Members For Aadhaar Card

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the civic body polls, Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Monday launched the party’s membership drive here.

The CM launched the drive after enrolling 24 persons as the primary members of the party and himself enrolling as an active member of the Ekamra Assembly seat at the BJD office here.

He said BJD will again meet the people of the state and seek their blessings to strengthen the party through the membership drive. “I am confident that that the BJD membership drive will be successful with the cooperation of the people,” he added.

The convenor and members of the state membership drive committee, all MLAs of the party’s Bhubaneswar organisational district and party functionaries were present on the occasion.

Stating that the membership drive will continue till October 31, the membership drive committee convenor, Debi Prasad Mishra, said BJD has set a target to enroll one crore members.

Mishra also said BJD has asked the new members to provide their Aadhaar number and voter identity card during the enrollment. “The Aadhaar number will be linked with the information that the new members provide to the party,” he pointed out.

Notably, the CM had formed a state-level committee to monitor and coordinate the membership drive.
