BJD Legislator Beats Up BJP Leader In Odisha’s Khurda

Khurda: Chilka legislator of ruling BJD Prashant Jagdev has been involved in yet another violent incident as he thrashed a local BJP leader in Balugaon of the district.

According to sources, Balugaon Nagar BJP president Niranjan Sethi had gone to NAC office to enquire the reasons for delay in releasing the work order to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) beneficiaries on Wednesday.

While Niranjan was coming out of the NAC office after enquiring about the matter from the executive officer, Jagdev came to the spot, abused him and beat him up. Niranjan, who was injured in the incident, was rescued by his supporters.

Later, BJP workers staged a dharna in front of Balugaon police station demanding arrest of the BJD legislator.

Last year, a junior Engineer of with the Chilika Development Authority (CDA) had filed a complaint before Chief Executive Officer of the CDA alleging that Jagdev had misbehaved with him in an inebriated condition and threatened to thrash him by local goons.
In 2016, the BJD legislator had allegedly thrashed some BJP supporters for showing black flags to two ministers in Boudh district.
