Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday lashed out at Odisha’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for delay in conducting inventory of ornaments and other valuables of the Ratna Bhandar of ShreeJagannath temple in Puri.
Addressing a press meet in Bhubaneswar, BJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subhashish Khuntia alleged that the BJP government is looting valuables from the temple treasury.
He said BJP in its manifesto for 2024 elections had promised a detailed inventory of the valuables of Ratna Bhandar. The temple treasury was opened and the ornaments were shifted to another room for renovation work of Ratna Bhandar. The valuables were shifted back to Ratna Bhandar after the completion of the repair work some days ago. However, the government is yet to conduct the inventory, said Khuntia.
Seeking immediate steps to conduct the inventory of the valuables of Ratna Bhandar, the BJD leader said the government must share details of the valuables with the people at the earliest.
Any further delay in the inventory of Ratna Bhandar will indicate that valuables have been looted from the temple treasury and the BJP government will be answerable to the people, he said.
