Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal has suspended Rayagada Municipality Chairman Patnaikuni Mahesh Pattanaik and Ward 16 Councillor Sramita Padhi over anti-party activities.
According to an office order signed by BJD general secretary Bijaya Nayak, Patnaikuni Mahesh Pattanaik, Chairman of Rayagada Municipality, and Sramita Padhi, Councillor of Ward No. 16 under Rayagada Municipality, have been suspended from the party with immediate effect.

While the suspension order did not specify the nature of anti-party activities of the two leaders, the cracked down apparently came amid reported internal dissent in the party in Rayagada.
Sources said the action was aimed at maintaining organisational unity and discipline at the grassroots level.
