Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled Odisha’s Vision Document, focusing on 2036, marking Odisha’s centenary as India’s first linguistic state, and 2047, India’s independence centenary, at a state-level event, celebrating one year of the first BJP government in the state, at Janata Maidan here.
The vision document outlines a roadmap for inclusive growth with goals of a $500 billion economy by 2036 and $1.5 trillion by 2047.
Modi also launched ‘Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana,’ an initiative for transforming birthplaces of Odisha’s notable figures into cultural hubs with museums, interpretation centres, statues, libraries, and public spaces to preserve heritage and boost tourism.
He also inaugurated and laid foundation stones of development projects exceeding Rs 18,600 crore, spanning vital sectors including drinking water, irrigation, agriculture, healthcare, rural roads, bridges, highways, and railways.
Modi flagged off new train services, connecting Boudh district to the rail network for the first time, and 100 electric buses under the CRUT programme to promote sustainable transport and clean energy.
The Prime Minister also felicitated women achievers, celebrating over 16.5 lakh Lakhpati Didis as icons of prosperity and self-reliance, on the occasion.
Prior to that, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi felicitated the PM with a painting during the celebration event. “Under your (PM Modi) leadership, the entire nation is reaching new heights of development. Over the past 11 years, India has witnessed consistent progress. Today, India has become the world’s fourth-largest economy, and we are rapidly moving towards becoming a $5 trillion economy. India’s extreme poverty rate has decreased to 5.3% from 27.1%. This is proof of how the country is witnessing positive changes under your leadership” Majhi said.
“In January, PM Modi urged the investors to participate in the Utkarsh Odisha 2025 conclave. We received proposals worth Rs 17 lakh crores in just two days, which is a record. This happened because the investors trusted you. We are working to make Odisha the industrial hub of eastern India,” he added.
This was followed by an audio video presentation of the Mohan Majhi government’s achievement in the last one year.
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram and Ashwini Vaishnaw, Deputy CMs Pravati Parida & KV Singh Deo, Kendrapada MP Baijayant Panda, BJP Odisha President Manmohan Samal, and other ministers were present on the dais.
