Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin is set to arrive in Bhubaneswar on Sunday on a two-day visit to the state, his first since assuming the party’s top post.
The visit is expected to energise the state unit and strengthen organisational strategies ahead of upcoming panchayat and urban local bodies’ elections.
State party leaders said Nabin is scheduled to land at Bhubaneswar airport on Sunday night in a regular passenger flight. The state BJP camp is enthusiastic about Nabin’s maiden visit as national president.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for austerity and simplicity amid the global oil crisis, his welcome will be conducted in a modest manner. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, BJP state unit president Manmohan Samal, and senior leaders will greet him at the airport, state party spokesperson Sudipta Ray.
On May 18, Nabin will participate in the State Core Committee meeting at the BJP state headquarters. Later, he will inaugurate the Pandit Deendayal Training Maha Abhiyan-2026 camp organised by Bhubaneswar organisational district at the AIPH University campus near IIT Jatani.
Thereafter, the BJP chief will travel to Puri to offer prayer at Shree Jagannath Temple and seek the blessings of the sibling deities.
Nabin will then return to Bhubaneswar and attend meetings with state office bearers, morcha presidents, and the council of ministers to review coordination between government and organization, assess grassroots activities, and discuss upcoming programs.
The state BJP has already held preparatory meetings to ensure smooth arrangements for the president’s visit. Nabin’s presence is expected to provide new direction and momentum to the party in Odisha.
Nabin will leave for Delhi in the evening, winding up his two-day Odisha tour.
