Block Chairperson’s Husband Held Over Hooliganism In Odisha’s Balangir
Balangir: The husband of a block chairperson in Odisha’s Balangir district was arrested on Saturday for allegedly indulging in hooliganism along with his supporters in a block office recently.
The accused, identified as Ashok Dora, happens to be a former block chairman of Gudvela in the district district. His wife Baby Dora is the present chairperson in the same block.
While five of his supporters were arrested earlier in connection with the incident at the block office on October 10, Dora was reportedly absconding, sources said.
Notably, Dora along with his supporters had stormed the block office on the evening of October 10 and allegedly entered into arguments with the coordinator of Mission Shakti, who lodged a police complaint against the accused.
As per the complaint, Dora and his supporters had allegedly assaulted him during the argument.
Following his complaint, police registered a case and arrested five persons, while Dora had been on the run. Finally, he was arrested by Tusura police.
Dismissing the allegation against him as false, Dora told the media that he never attacked anyone and the charges made against him are politically motivated.
