Body Of Missing Man Found Dumped In Pond After 6 Days In Odisha’s Cuttack
Cuttack: The body of a man. who had gone missing for the last 6 days, was found from a pond near his house in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Friday.
According to sources, the man, identified as Prakash Sahoo of Kabichandrapur under Niali police station in the district, had left his house to meet a known person of the area on November 3. As he returned till late in the night, his family started enquiring about him from the person, his friends and relatives.
After failing to trace Prakash, his family filed a missing complaint at Niali police station. The police also failed to get any information regarding his whereabouts during the investigation.
On Friday, the locals found a stuffed gunny bag floating in the pond and retrieved it. On opening the bag, they found the body of Prakash and informed the police.
A police team went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. They found that the hands and legs of Prakash were tied with a rope. They detained two persons from the locality and questioned them.
Cuttack (rural) SP Debadatta Barala told the media that from the circumstances under which the body was found, it is suspected that it is a murder case. The police will register a case and launch investigation after Prakash’s wife files a complaint, he added.
Prakash’s wife alleged that he had gone to meet Arup Nayak from whom he had brought a paddy harvester on rent on the day he went missing.
