Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of Prasant Satpathy, who was killed a terror attack at Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday, will be brought to Odisha on Wednesday.
Officials said arrangements for shifting of his body are being coordinated by the authorities concerned, with assistance from the Odisha government and officials in New Delhi.
As per sources, Prasant’s body is scheduled to arrive in Delhi from Srinagar at 2:35 pm and then it will be flown to Bhubaneswar in the evening. It is expected to arrive here at around 9:45 pm.
The Office of the Resident Commissioner of Odisha in New Delhi is overseeing the entire process in close coordination with local authorities.
It may be noted that Prasant was killed in a brutal attack by a group of terrorists in the picturesque Pahalgam. The assailants opened fire while Prasant was traveling with his wife Priyadarshini Satpathy, and nine-year-old son.
The horrifying incident occurred in broad daylight, and he was shot dead in front of his family, leaving them in shock and deep trauma. While his wife and child narrowly escaped unharmed, they witnessed the tragedy.
Prasant is a resident of Ishani village under Remuna block in Balasore district. He along with his family members had been to Pahalgam on April 20 to enjoy their holiday.
A pall of gloom has descended on Prasant’s hometown, where residents are preparing to receive his body with full honours. Local officials are making arrangements for the final rites, and Odisha government representatives are expected to attend. “We are planning to conduct the last rites tomorrow,” said a family member.
