Bonanza For Govt Employees As CM Approves Release Of Outstanding Arrears Under 7th Pay Commission

Bhubaneswar: Here’s good news for government employees of Odisha. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday directed for release of the outstanding 20 per cent arrear pertaining to salary revision under the 7th Pay Commission.

The employees will receive the arrear amount along with their March salary, a release issued by the CMO said.

An additional budget of Rs 850 crore has been earmarked in the 2021-22 supplementary budget for the purpose, it added.

The release further said that 80 per cent of the Pay Commission salary slab arrears have already been paid and the decision to clear the pending dues will benefit nearly 4 lakh employees.

In January, the government had paid 30 per cent of the arrears of employees. Earlier, they had received 50 per cent of the arrears of their increased pay from January 2016 to August 2017.

Notably, the Odisha government had accepted the recommendation of the commission and implemented it in January 2016. The enhanced salary was accordingly paid from September 2017.
