Baripada: In a tragic incident, a minor boy lost his life allegedly due to accidental strangulation on a swing at a village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
The deceased has been identified as Satya Murmu, the younger son of Durga Murmu of Jagannathi village under Udala police limits.
According to sources, Satya was playing on makeshift cloth swing tied to a custard apple tree in the backyard of his house. While playing, the swing somehow got entangled and tied around his neck. He possibly choked to death as he did not scream for help. “Everyone was inside the house. No one was worried as he was playing in our backyard, as usual. The older children spotted him lying unconscious and we rushed to rescue him,” his uncle Barial Murmu told a local news channel.
His family immediately removed him from the swing and rushed him to sub-divisional hospital at Udala. Unfortunately, the doctors declared him brought dead.
