BSE Denies Matric Exam English Question Paper Leak In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha on Saturday denied leak of any Matric exam question paper.  The statement came after a video of an English question paper and answer sheet went viral.

BSE Vice President Nihar Ranjan Mohanty told media, “It has been 24 hours since the English examination, and we have not received any complaint about the leak. Some miscreants are trying to mislead people and the board.”

The video that had reportedly gone viral in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts had both objective and subjective questions.

A total of 5,51,611 students are appearing in the Matric examination at 3,047 examination centres of the state this year.

For smooth and fair conduct of the exams that started on February 20 and continued till March 4, BSE has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered CCTV cameras to keep an eye on the exam and nodal centres. Twenty-one police stations in remote areas are serving as nodal centres for the Matric exam.

As per sources, BSE has reported about many instances of irregularities in the conduct of the English exam on Friday to the School and Mass Education department. The irregularities were captured in several exam centres across Odisha by the CCTVs installed by BSE.

The BSE president informed media that some invigilators have admitted to errors and promised to be more cautious. He said that they are being asked to submit an undertaking in this regard.

The District Education Officer (DEO) Keonjhar has also denied leak of any question paper. He told media that an enquiry would be held in this connection and action would be taken accordingly if the allegations were proved to be true.

Meanwhile, the Centre Superintendent of Saharapada High School in Keonjhar has been transferred by the DEO based on irregularities caught on camera.
