Bhubaneswar: In a daring act, a gang of burglars targeted government quarters located in Unit-3 area of Bhubaneswar and decamped with gold ornaments worth more than Rs one lakh and huge amount of cash.
According to sources, the incident took place on Monday night when the occupants of the house had gone out for barely two hours. Taking advantage of this, the miscreants committed the crime.
Police said the miscreants broke open the main door, entered the quarter located under the jurisdiction of Kharavela Nagar police station, and ransacked the house. The burglars stole valuables with speed and precision.
The entire act was captured on CCTV, which reportedly showed three persons entering the house and carrying out the loot in a swift operation.
Following a complaint, a team from Kharavela Nagar police station visited the spot and launched an investigation. The stolen items include gold jewellery and cash, the exact value of which is yet to be assessed.
A senior police official said that the investigating team has obtained the CCTV footage showing the suspects breaking in and carrying out theft through the property. Their identities are being ascertained.
