Cabinet Meet: Odisha To Sponsor National Hockey Teams For 10 More Years; Know Other Decisions

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Monday approved the proposal to extend the sponsorship of national men’s and women’s hockey teams for another 10 years.

The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, approved total 15 proposals. The proposals included extension of sponsorship of the hockey teams.

The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), which was the official sponsor of the Indian Hockey teams from 2018 t0 2023, has been given the extension for 10 more years. Following the request from Hockey India for extension of the agreement with OMC, the latter had submitted the proposal to the government.

As per the Cabinet decision, the OMC will pay Rs 434.12 crore to Hockey India towards sponsorship from February 1, 2023 to January 31, 2033.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal to include 22 castes/communities notified by the Centre as OBCs, in State SEBC list.

In another decision, Khannagar-Link Road ring road in Cuttack will be expanded into 6-lane carriageway under State-Sector Road Development Programme.

Following are other major proposals approved by the Cabinet:

  • Amendment of Odisha Specified Minor Minerals Auction Rules, 2019 (OSMMA Rules, 2019)
  • Amendment of the “Rules of Rate Contract with Micro and Small Enterprises of Odisha’ 2014 registered with the Directorate of E.P & M Odisha
  • Increase the subsidy on purchase of electric vehicles to attract the people to go for the green vehicles
  • Restructuring the Cadre strength of Odisha Forest Service Group-B & Group-A
  • Approval of Odisha Subordinate Excise Service (Method of recruitment and conditions of service of Sub-Inspectors of Excise) Rules, 2023
  • Approval of Odisha Excise Ministerial Service (Method of recruitment and conditions of service of junior assistants, senior assistants and section officers in district offices subordinate to Excise Directorate) Rules, 2023
  • The Odisha Ministerial Services Rules 2023 framed to regulate the recruitment and promotion of Group C and D employees in field offices of Rural Development department
