Call For ‘Compromise’ To Odisha MLA’s ‘Estranged’ Girlfriend

Jagatsinghpur: Tirtol BJD MLA Bijaya Shankar Das’ rumoured girlfriend Somalika Dash allegedly received a phone call, pushing for a ‘compromise’ in the ongoing dispute between them.

In the audio recording, the caller can be heard asking Somalika if she was ready for any kind of settlement and she retorted back saying whether he would have gone for a compromise, had the victim been his daughter.

Handing it over to the media, Somalika said that she would lodge a police complaint in this regard.

This came two days after she met Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra and urged him to raise the issue in the Odisha Assembly during the Budget Session since no action had yet been taken against the lawmaker “despite evidence”.

Somalika had accused Bijaya Shankar of developing physical intimacy with her on the pretext of marriage. She further alleged that he forced her to undergo abortion twice.

Following a directive from the Orissa High Court earlier this month, police had registered a case against the MLA under Section 376 (punishment for rape), 313 (causing miscarriage without women’s consent), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
