Mumbai: Actor Nushrratt Bharuccha finally broke her silence on the IPL video row after social media users began speculating about the sounds heard in the clip.
Amid the fast-spreading online theories, the actor stepped in to set the record straight, urging people to “calm their wild thoughts.”
She also flagged a statement being circulated in her name as fake, making it clear that she had not issued any such comment and warning fans against misinformation.
On Thursday, reposting the video shared by her friend on her Instagram Stories, Nushrratt wrote, “Kuch logon ne hadh hi kar di hai. Ek puppy ke rone ki awaaz se itna bawaal mach gaya hai and someone has issued a fake clarification also on my behalf. (People have crossed their limits. They created a fuss over the sound of a puppy crying).”
“So here’s the reality …I was watching the match at my friends house and their young puppy was making these crying ‘Sounds’. This is the video made by my friend at the same time with the same sounds from another angle,” she added.
“This is the house where I was watching the match. This is the puppy. This is a video from that very night a while later,” she wrote in another post.
Stating that she had predicted this would happen, she continued, “Fearing exactly what has happened, I was advised to delete that video and I did. People, calm your wild thoughts down! Owning a mobile phone doesn’t empower harrassment. Do not misinterpret or follow blindly. Think and act responsibly!”

An alleged fake note circulating in her name read, “Guys, calm down. That voice is NOT mine.”
“The way some people are spreading random stories and theories on social media is honestly unbelievable. One accidental post and suddenly everyone becomes a detective. Please stop believing every rumor you see online. Not everything needs a conspiracy theory attached to it,” read another portion of the note.
Nushrratt reposted the note with ‘fake’ written on it.

On the work front, Nushrratt was last seen in the 2025 films ‘Chhorii 2’ and ‘Ufff Yeh Siyapaa’.
She will next be seen in Netflix thriller ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’.
Helmed by Neeraj Pandey and co-starring Manoj Bajpayee, the film triggered backlash over its title and led to FIRs, protests and a Supreme Court petition too.
Following backlash, the makers issued a public apology and agreed to change the title.
