Cambridge Analytica Leak: Law Minister Alleges Congress Link With Agency
New Delhi: Amid reports of a potential security breach of voters’ data by Cambridge Analytica for President Donald Trump during the 2016 elections campaign, IT and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has alleged that opposition Congress has ‘links with the firm’ and plans to use it as a ‘Brahmastra’ during 2019 elections.
“My question to Congress party is whether to win elections, Congress will depend on data manipulation and theft of data. What is the role of Cambridge Analytica in social media profile of Rahul Gandhi,” the Minister asked, as quoted by national media.
Alleging that the agency was roped in by Congress to run their 2019, he warned social media platforms like ‘facebook’ to face stern action if an attempt is made to influence the country’s electoral process.
“If need be, strong action will be taken,” he said.
