Canada Adds Blood Clots Warning To Made-In-India AstraZeneca Vaccine
Toronto: The Canada Health department on Thursday updated the label on AstraZeneca vaccine warning about “very rare reports of blood clots associated with low levels of blood platelets.”
The vaccine developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca is being made by the Serum Institute of India and marketed as Covishield in India.
Health Canada, however, continues to say the vaccine is safe and that it has not received any report of blood clot till now.
Canada has received 5 lakh doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine till now.
The warning label also reads: “Also, seek immediate medical attention if you experience after a few days severe or persistent headaches or blurred vision, or experience skin bruising or pinpoint round spots beyond the site of vaccination that appears after a few days”.
