Bhubaneswar: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India Gyanesh Kumar is slated to embark on a three-day official visit to Odisha from Saturday.
On the first day of his tour on December 27, Kumar will visit Puri to offer prayers at the Shree Jagannath Temple in the pilgrim town. Following this, he will proceed to the world-renowned Konark Sun Temple, officials said on Friday.
On Sunday, his itinerary includes visits to Odisha’s cultural and historical landmarks: the heritage village Raghurajpur in Puri district, the Dhauli Shanti Stupa, the Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves, and the Mukteswar Temple in Bhubaneswar.
On the last day of his visit on December 29 (Monday), the CEC is scheduled to preside over a meeting with Booth Level Officers (BLOs), the frontline workers for voter enumeration and verification, in the afternoon at the auditorium of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar.
Kumar will address the gathering before concluding his tour. Later that night, he is scheduled to depart from Bhubaneswar.
Amid the ongoing nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in multiple states since mid-2025, the CEC’s visit to Odisha and direct engagement with BLOs suggests a review of preparedness or progress, potentially ahead of intensified field-level activities.
