Bhubaneswar: The Central government is taking concrete steps to transform Odisha into a major hub for information technology (IT) in next two to three years, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas meet in Bhubaneswar, the Electronics & Information Technology Minister said that the Centre and the state government are working together to make Odisha a big IT hub.
Stating that the issue has been thoroughly discussed with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, he said the process will be initiated in this regard in a couple of months.
The Union Minister said all necessary steps will be taken to impart proper training to the youths of the state as part of the efforts to make the state an IT hub.
Stating that the Centre has announced railway projects worth over Rs one lakh crore for Odisha in the past, Vaishnaw said the construction work of these projects has been expedited and talks were also held with the Chief Minister for development of railway infrastructure in the state. Vaishnaw also hold Railways portfolio.
He said the CM has proposed some new rail projects in the state and the railway authorities will soon prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) in this regard.
The Union Minister further revealed that the Indian Railways will run a special train from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Maha Kumbh-2025 at Prayagraj.
