Bhubaneswar: The much-anticipated historical drama Raavan, starring Odia superstar Anubhav Mohanty, has generated significant buzz with the release of its first-look character posters. The posters for three key characters dropped on social media starting May 10, offering fans a glimpse into the film’s grand vision.
Directed by Sai Kiran Mangaraj and written by Anubhav’s wife, Jagrati A Mohanty, Raavan carries the intriguing tagline ‘Chosen by fate, not by blood’. The film appears to blend elements of power, vengeance, destiny, and epic drama, with Anubhav reportedly essaying multiple looks across different timelines and physiques in what many are calling one of the most ambitious projects in recent Ollywood history.
Character First Looks
Anubhav Mohanty as Bheema: The superstar appears in a menacing, powerful avatar on the poster, accompanied by the line: “When the storm awakens, kingdoms tremble.” Social media reactions highlight the intense, storm-like presence in the look.
Suryamoyee Mohapatra as Devika: Portrayed as a fierce warrior in a fighter outfit, her poster describes her as having “fire in her eyes, a fearless warrior in her soul.”
Sushmita Pradhan as Nisha: Contrasting the intensity, she features in elegant white attire with a “fairy-like charm [and] mesmerizing presence.”
The posters have been widely shared and discussed on Instagram and YouTube, with fans praising the production values and Anubhav’s transformative appearances.
Produced by Jagrati A Mohanty and Suvam Mohanty, the film features music by Humane Sagar. It is shaping up as a large-scale project promising a fresh narrative in Odia cinema. “When you will see the posters of all characters of ‘Raavan’, I can bet, I promise you guys, we will not disappoint you,” Jagrati said in a video message.
While excitement builds for Raavan, with some indications of a possible Durga Puja release, Anubhav is currently preparing for the release of his other upcoming film, ‘Chhaki Suna’. This murder mystery thriller, directed by Manas Padhiary, is set to hit theatres on June 12. It stars Abhishek Panda and Divya Mohanty in key roles and is produced by Naveen Bhandari, Jagrati A Mohanty, and Suvam Mohanty under Amara Studio, SM Entertainment, and in association with 29 Two Nine Films.
