Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin is scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar late on Sunday evening for his first visit to Odisha since assuming the party’s top post in January 2026.

The two-day tour focuses on strengthening the party organisation following the BJP’s significant electoral success in the state.

According to state party leaders, Nabin’s flight is expected to land at Bhubaneswar airport around 10:30 pm. Due to current aviation fuel constraints and in line with the party’s emphasis on austerity as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directives, he will travel on a regular commercial flight rather than a chartered one. He will be received by Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other senior leaders.

No public roadshow or procession is planned, and he will proceed directly to his hotel.

On Monday, Nabin is expected to offer prayers at Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. He will then attend a BJP core committee meeting at the party’s state headquarters in Bhubaneswar. Later, he will inaugurate and address the district-level Pandit Deendayal Training Maha Abhiyan-2026 camp organised by the Bhubaneswar organisational district unit at the Asian Institute of Public Health University campus at Jatni.

In the afternoon, the national president will hold detailed discussions with state office-bearers, morcha presidents, and members of the state Cabinet at the BJP office.

Party sources indicate these meetings will focus on enhancing coordination between the government and the organisation, boosting grassroots outreach, and making governance more people-centric. Ministers are likely to receive guidance on improving public engagement and service delivery in their departments.

This visit forms part of the nationwide ‘Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Prashikshan Mahabhiyan’, a major organisational training initiative. The programme aims to train thousands of workers at various levels in BJP ideology, booth management, digital communication, leadership skills, and government achievements. Training camps have been underway across Odisha since early May.

Nabin is slated to return to New Delhi on Monday night.

The tour is seen as a key step in consolidating the party ahead of upcoming local body elections, including the three-tier panchayati raj polls expected next year. “This is great news for the people of Odisha and all BJP workers. The youngest national president of the world’s largest political party is visiting the state for a two-day tour shortly after taking charge. He will arrive on the night of the 17th and will remain engaged in various programmes throughout the day on the 18th,” BJP state Spokesperson Sudipta Ray told the media.
