Bhubaneswar: Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, who was in Odisha with his family to participate in the annual Rath Yatra in Puri, called on Chief Minister Mohan Majhi at the State Guest House in Bhubaneswar on Saturday evening.
According to sources, the meeting, held in the presence of senior state officials, focused on strengthening public-private partnerships to boost economic growth through strategic investments in port infrastructure, green energy, and advanced fuel technologies.
The discussions aligned with the state government’s renewed push for industrial expansion following the Utkarsh Odisha — Make in Odisha Conclave. Adani Group had pledged Rs 2.3 lakh crore investment, which included Rs 16,554 crore to expand cargo handling capacity of Gopalpur port project to 50 million metric tonne, generating 5,000 jobs, during the conclave.
“The meeting underscores the state government’s commitment to accelerating industrial growth under CM Majhi’s leadership. The Gopalpur port agreement marks a major milestone in this direction, promising to enhance the state’s maritime infrastructure and economic prospects,” read an official statement.
The group has proposed across sectors including power, cement, industrial parks, aluminium, and city gas, aiming to generate 9,300 direct jobs and numerous indirect opportunities.. It also manages coal blocks like Talabira II and III, supporting Odisha’s mineral-rich economy. Additionally, the Dhamra LNG terminal, developed in partnership with TotalEnergies, highlights the group’s commitment to energy infrastructure.
