Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has sanctioned Rs 15.20 crore for the redevelopment and transformation of 507 religious and community projects in Odisha capital.
The money would be used for the construction and transformation of different religious and community projects in Bhubaneswar North, Ekamra Bhubaneswar and Bhubaneswar Central Assembly constituencies, official sources said on Wednesday.
It may be noted that managing committees of different temples, people’s representatives of various localities and members of minority communities had sought steps for the development of their religious institutions, community properties, women’s meeting halls and puja mandaps.
Officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) visited those places and did a survey. Based on the report, 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman V K Pandian discussed all these works with the Chief Minister who sanctioned funds for these development works.
Notably, the Smart City Bhubaneswar is famous as Temple City as there are more than 700 temples, including several ancient shrines. Thousands of tourists and pilgrims visit these places every day.
This amount has been sanctioned keeping in view the need for beautification and improvement of all religious places including ancient structures. As per plans, various community properties, clubs, women’s association houses, meeting halls and puja mandaps will be developed along with new construction.
