Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday joined a cleanliness drive and had lunch with sanitation workers during the concluding event of Maha Kumbh near Prayagraj.

He also announced a Rs 10,000 bonus for sanitation and health workers deployed during the 45-day Maha Kumbh as recognition of their hard work and dedication. “We are going to ensure that from April, a minimum wage of Rs 16,000 will be provided to the sanitation workers… Temporary health workers will be given direct bank transfers and all of them will be linked to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana for health coverage, ensuring better welfare and support,” he further stated.

Earlier, their salaries ranged between Rs 9,000 and Rs 11,000 per month, but now a uniform salary structure of Rs 16,000 has been implemented for all.

The CM along with deputies Brajesh Pathak and KP Maurya, and other cabinet ministers, also performed pooja at Arail Ghat-Sangam.

Notably, more than 1.53 crore pilgrims took the final holy dip on Maha Shivratri on Wednesday as the Maha Kumbh, which began in Prayagraj on January 13, came to a close.

Guinness World Record

The Uttar Pradesh government achieved a Guinness World Record for executing the largest coordinated cleanliness campaign during the Maha Kumbh “This huge event, illuminated by the divine aura of Sanatan culture, has created a new history by setting a record in the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ for the maximum number of people cleaning a river simultaneously, the maximum number of workers cleaning one place simultaneously and the maximum number of people doing hand print painting in 8 hours,” Yogi wrote on X after receiving the Guinness World Records certificate.

Words Of Praise For Rly Employees

Meanwhile, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited Prayagraj junction to appreciate railway employees for their dedication during Maha Kumbh.

To manage the huge crowd, Indian Railways ran over 350 extra trains from Prayagraj, helping lakhs of pilgrims return home. Stations in cities like Patna, Gaya, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Lucknow saw a heavy rush as devotees travelled back.
